Summary.
North Norfolk District Council made exciting leaps with digital technology over the past few years, and I’m proud to have been part of that transformation – knowing the work you do has a genuine impact on the livelihoods of people is genuinely rewarding. Throughout the 2.5 years I was employed by NNDC, I worked in both the Communications Team and IT Team. Key responsibilities included the production, modification and maintenance of websites, web applications and business tools user interfaces. My professionalism, approachability, and capacity to scope service area requirements was recognised with a nomination for the ‘Change and Innovation’ 2018 Award.
Initially working within the Communications team, I led the delivery of the new website which was at a standstill after 2 years worth of investment. Four months after I began my post, I successfully launched the website. User experience, clear navigation and up-time was a priority, as the public expect to be able pay for services online and access information easily and quickly from any of the 1300 pages; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Intranet
As a key figure of the Digital Transformation project and after delivering the new website, my next objective was the responsibility for the development of the SharePoint intranet and its use as an enterprise wide collaboration and document management platform for 300+ staff the Council employs:

InPhase – Business Intelligence tool
Successfully implementing the new performance management system (InPhase) included the development of dashboards containing data specifically captured by the Council’s web forms. The value of the dashboards were recognised when reporting channel shift figures to key stakeholders and when analysing the performance of digital services. This application will contribute significantly to the performance of all service areas within Council going forward.
Forms
Successfully delivered a wide range of external and internal forms in the TopLevel application using languages including VB.NET/ C#/ Javascript, external Payment Gateway API’s and internal application API’s. On joining the web development team, I introduced new methodologies to collate and re-structure the backlog of work. This Agile approach allows Head of IT and fellow team members to visualise long-term goals, produce new strategies, review development sprints, analyse API requirements across projects and identify patterns and potential risks.

Other initiatives
- Delivered an in-house address look-up tool for Customer Services, hooking SQL databases into Microsoft SharePoint. The tool is now used throughout the Council and within first day of launch considered an invaluable asset, particularly in the Electoral Services, Revenues, Benefits, and Customer Service teams.
- Worked with an external agency to implement a web chat feature.
- In 2019, I co-developed the new North Norfolk Planning Design Guide portal in Umbraco.
